All-weather Pitch Update

All-weather Pitch Update

Details

During the summer we have been able to create an all-weather pitch in Mr Barry Barr’s field adjacent to our school site. Our thanks to Mr Colin Ramsey for providing extensive plant, labour and machinery and driving on the project itself.

Our thanks also to Mr Lester Kelly, Mr Howard Kelly, Mr Christopher Smyth, Mr Andrew Pollock, Mr Mark Cunningham, Mr Barry Barr and Mr Nigel Connor for providing assistance with transporting soil and stones for the digger driver. Our PTA had fundraised £5,500 last year and we also received a generous anonymous donation of £5,500 for this pitch from one of our families. We will have a superb facility for our pupils in the years ahead and without the generosity of Mr Barry Barr who has provided the land, this project could not have begun.

We still have more work before the pitch can be used by our pupils – a boundary fence to be erected, a health and safety appraisal by the Education Board personnel and a lease agreement by the EA Claims and Legal Department covering pupil liability and insurance prior to their use of the pitch.

We also have a short fall of approximately £4000-£4500 to cover total bill but we aim to have PTA fundraisers this year and hope you will assist in supporting these events.

Please keep Saturday 2nd February 2019 evening free in your diary as PTA are organising an event evening in the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine to raise significant funds for the pitch. Rodd Hogg, magician has been booked and more details will follow shortly.

The pitch itself is an amazing facility – there is ample room for both a hockey and football pitch for break and lunchtime play, a running track around the perimeter and a large full pitch for inter-school tournaments and our annual sports evening.
